Why Did I Start a Home Watch Company? In a Word - Anxiety

As Homeowners we all know that stuff happens. But what if that stuff happens when you are not there?

In my own life I have lived several of these experiences.

• I have come home from work to find my ceiling laying in my kitchen floor from a water leak

• I’ve pulled into my driveway after a trip away and seen water coming out from under my garage door - only to find that while we were gone, the bottom of our water heater had rusted through

• I’ve had friends return from vacations to find their homes have been damaged in their absence. So instead of recovering from their trip, they find themselves scrambling to fix a problem that could have been mitigated, prevented, or even discovered and fixed by the time they got home.

These experiences have caused me to worry about the condition of my home whenever my family and I are away. When we take yearly trips to Disney or to visit my grandmother in Central Florida, I’m always having to try and coordinate with another family member or friend and asking them to please just “drop in” from time to time so that I can relax knowing everything is ok with the house.

I thought - wouldn’t it be nice if there were a service where, instead of asking for a favor, I could just pay someone to periodically come check on my house, and give me a report that things are good. And thus, Tri State Home Watch was born.
